As part of Downtown’s LA Open House, James Rojas will create a sustainable model for downtown LA.  Imagining
Downtown is a weekend long interactive public project inviting
participants to imagine, and develop innovative land use and
transportation elements in a model form based on their personal
experiences. Participants will be provided with a medley of recycled  materials,
and invited to create their ideal urban form on an oversized plat of
Downtown LA.

This City-building event allows participants to think of
planning goals in physical terms and understand the diverse voices in
planning. Playing and visualizing with the 3-dimensional forms engages
people of all ages and ethnic groups. This model will be constantly
changing through the weekend as participants’ work builds upon the
contributions of everyone.

Participants will be able to understand the
city as not only a place but as comprehensive urban art form.
