Metro Muddle Continues

Tonight is the Metro San Fernando Valley Governance Council meeting at which Metro staff are slated to offer up for the Council to consider amended service change proposals with the changes in part responding to the input of the public heard at the hearings held last month. This meeting also gives the public one last chance to be heard regarding the proposals before the Council decides whether to adopt them. Too bad as of this morning Metro hasn’t posted on its website the agenda or any details about what the amended staff recommendations consist of. Instead the Metro website starkly announces “The agenda for this meeting is being compiled, please come back soon for details.”

This is nearly as bad as sitting on the maps and not initially including a link on Metro’s website to the additional details, oversights that I recently complained regarding in two commentaries hammering Metro’s poor handling of outreach for the hearings: Memo to Metro: “Additional Details” on Bus Cuts AWOL – Updated and Memo to Metro (the sequel): Service Change Proposal Details Still Lacking. Members of the public will be showing up at the meeting tonight and hit with changes they had no reasonable chance to see ahead of time and expected to make comments on the fly with no opportunity to review and analyze the proposal tweaks. My head hurts at the continued muddle way Metro is handling this process.
