Pete calls his bike “One of a Kind” because it genuinely is one of a kind. Custom built by Pete himself, it is a 21-speed bike with a motor that can propel it along at up to 45 mph. It didn’t take too long to put it together–about three months, apparently–even though he built it completely from scratch. He doesn’t necessarily consider it finished, however. Once you start, he laughed, “it never stops.” He does it because he is an artist and he loves creating, he says. He joined the club only 2 1/2 years ago. He was reluctant at first because, he said, he was a hardcore rider and thought he was the only one that rode that much. I think he probably does win the prize for being the most serious rider of the group, though…his next long-distance destination is San Diego.
