Saturday afternoon, the Ovarian Psycos  Bicycle Brigade led a bike ride that crisscrossed the Boyle Heights neighborhood showing off many of the important cultural and community centers to cyclists.  Some were new to the area, some were just visiting, some had lived in Boyle Heights all their lives.  Regardless of their familiarity with the neighborhood, all had a great time and maybe even learned something about the community.

While the ride passed by historical sites including the LAC/USC Medical Center, Pico Gardens Housing Projects, Hollenbeck Park, Wyvrenwood Apartments, and Evergreen Cemetery, it also visited younger culture centers such as Corazón del Pueblo, Centro de Comunicación Comunitaria, and Proyecto Jardin.

Every rider received a pocket map of the area prepared by the Psycos.  While it was impossible to include every historical or culturally significant site in Boyle Heights, Breed Street Shul and Casa de Mexico were missing in action, the ride and map are a great place to start for anyone looking to ride in, or learn about, Boyle Heights.
