Patsaouras Plaza Busway Station Hits Snag

An update in The Source last year confirmed that, thanks to a Federal Transit Administration grant, Metro would be able to accelerate the completion of the Patsaouras Plaza Busway Station to 2014.

Now a transit project status report being presented at today’s Metro Board Construction Committee meeting contains bad news regarding the project. To wit:

  • Three Design/Build bids [were] received August 14, 2012
  • All bids were over budget and highly variable in price, low bidder also withdrew bid. All bids canceled
  • Design workshops have been held and debriefings with contractors are in progress
  • Plan is to reduce cost, repackage the engineering documents, and re-solicit the project as soon as feasible

Obviously this likely will impact the project being completed by summer 2014.
