SBLA Has a Full Calendar Coming Up: LiveStreaming Hyperion, Interview with Juan Matute on Ride Share, ARTCRANK

On Monday Streetsblog publishes The Week in Livable Streets events, but since we have such a full calendar coming up of our own events. We wanted to highlight them for you separately,

On Monday, the City of Los Angeles and Caltrans will hold a Public Hearing on Monday, October 28, 2013 from 6 to 8 pm in the Friendship Auditorium, 3201 Riverside Drive, Los Angeles 90027, to provide information and receive public comments about the Environmental Document for the Glendale- Hyperion Complex of Bridges Improvement Project. Now we know that not everyone can attend the hearing, so we’ll be Live Streaming the hearing, high speed Internet access willing. You can watch the hearing at this address.

On Wednesday at 3 pm, I’ll be interviewing Juan Matute about the role of  Transportation Network companies in Los Angeles and some of the political battles that are ongoing. We will broadcast the conversation on our YouTube channel: SoCal StreetsTube, where it will be archived indefinitely.

One topic we’ll be sure to cover, why Matute insists that companies such as Lyft and Uber are Transportation Network companies and not ride share companies.

Last, but certainly not least, our next scheduled fundraiser is ARTCRANK, the one night poster show and beer party at Space 15 Twenty on Saturday, November 9th. To help, all you have to do is show up and buy some Widmer beer, two pints with a souvenir glass for just $5. It’s like the best fraternity party you ever went to in college, without all the fraternity stuff. Instead there’s bike people. And a chance to buy cool art. Also, we’re still looking for volunteers. There are 16 volunteer shifts we need to fill. We’ve filled three. Contact me at damien@streetsblog.org if you’d like to help. Read more about ARTCRANK LAX right here.
