Councilmember Huizar Urges You to Make Your Voice Heard on Lorena Plaz

Community of Friends invites you to a meeting this Wednesday, Feb. 19th, to learn about Lorena Plaza, a proposed mixed-use development that will be comprised of affordable housing and commercial/retail. The development would be constructed on the northeast corner of 1st Street and Lorena Street, in Boyle Heights.

This project has been pending for over six years and due to a lack of transparency and community engagement by Metro in this process, Councilmember Huizar opposes this development project and voted against it as a Metro board member. The current plans have drastically changed from the original plans which included more commercial space and parking spaces, which would have generated economic activity in the surrounding area. Many in the community share Councilmember Huizar’s concerns. Make sure your voice is heard on this matter.

The meeting will be held in English and Spanish. If you have any questions for Community of Friends, contact Jose Torres at (213) 480-0809 ext. 234
