The Week in Livable Streets Events

Tuesday – Is Election Day!  Even if you don’t have a City Council election in your part of the city, there are still some ballot members on which to vote.  Read Streetsblog’s Election coverage, here.

Wednesday – The City Council Transportation Committee meets with a pretty stacked agenda including a “Safe Routes to School Master Plan” and “the Bicycling anti-harassment ordinance” on the agenda.  Meeting starts at 2:00 P.M. in City Hall.  Read the agenda, here.  Streetsblog will have some advance coverage of the meeting, tomorrow.

Thursday – The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health us hosting a series of meetings on the health benefits of Transit Oriented Development in advance of a South L.A. Community Plan update that will call for dense development around 10 blue line stations.  The first of these meetings will be 6:00 P.M. at Los Angeles Trade Tech.  Get the meeting details, here.

Saturday – James Rojas hosts one of his interactive modeling programs at the Japanese American Museum in Downtown Los Angeles from 11:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.  Create a map collage of your neighborhood. Construct a wacky building out of a variety of materials.  Get the details, here.

Saturday – The “Being Pedestrian” series hosts, covered in Streetsblog by James Rojas, hosts a picnic to talk over what they learned during their first two workshops/walks.  The picnic is in Grand Hope Park, Downtown.
