As we get closer to the 10/9/11 CicLAvia, expect more and more coverage here at Streetsblog. Of course, you can stay up to date by “liking” CicLAvia on Facebook or visiting their blogpage anytime. For example, I’m told they’ll be releasing a list of “mini-grant” winners later today…

But for regular Streetsblog readers who want their news in one place, we’ll be offering semi-regular updates on the CicLAvia news you might have missed otherwise. Don’t forget, CicLAvia runs from 10 A.M. to 3 P.M. on Sunday, October 9.

• The CicLAvia extension North got a slight trimming so that the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association could celebrate the 100th year anniversary of the founding of Taiwan. The route now ends at El Pueblo near Olvera Street. Extra bike parking will be available for CicLAvia participants who want to enjoy the parade.
• CicLAvia met their goal of $10,000 from Kick Starter (and then some). Online fundraisers that cost organizations very little such as this one really go a long way. Incidentally, we have a small Kickstarter campaign for LA Streetsblog going right now to fund a Spanish language Streetsfilm on CicLAvia III.
• The CicLAvia team also offers three DON’Ts for the day which basically breaks down to: be polite to all road users, don’t slow up emergency vehicles, and spend money along the route.
