Jeff Mapes, author of the acclaimed book  Pedaling Revolution: How Cyclists Are Changing American Cities will be visiting Los Angeles this weekend and presenting two public sessions on his book and the state of bike advocacy this Saturday. 

Mapes will be speaking at the Los Angeles Eco-Village,
on Saturday at 2 p.m. before pedaling across town to the Flying Pigeon bike shop in Highland Park at 7 p.m.  While both talks are free, you’ll probably want to bring money to purchase
a copy of Mapes’ book which he’ll gladly sign for you.

To whet your appetite, the Eco Village’s official blog has an op/ed penned by Mapes entiteled A Vehicle for the Times (hint: he’s not talking about an H3.)

While I can’t claim to have either read Pedaling Revolution or have heard Mapes speak before; I can tell you that Streetsblog appeared at similar events in New York and my co-workers wrote rave reviews of Mapes and his writing.
