This Week in Livable Streets Events

Today’s a big day for events in Los Angeles before the week turns into a series of events that can be described as Bikes! Bikes! Bikes!

Monday: Today is the last day to get your comments in for the Scoping of the Crenshaw Corridor.  Should it be a BRT line  Light Rail?  Should it be at-grade?  Below grade?  Send your thoughts in to diazroderick@metro.net.  The Neighborhood Empowerment Congress put their comments online for those interested.

Monday: This afternoon at 2:00 P.M. the UCLA Speakers Series on Transportation Land Use and the Environment features former L.A. City Councilman and current Planning Commissioner Michael Woo.  Streetsblog interviewed Woo back in May about S.B. 375 and found him informative and interesting.  For more information on today’s event, click here.

Monday: Metro holds it’s second of five meetings on proposed locations for the Westside Subway.  Tonight’s 6:00 P.M. Meeting at LACMA will discuss stations at Wilshire/Crenshaw, La Brea/Wilshire and Fairfax/Wilshire.  For more information, visit Metro’s meeting announcement.

Monday-Wednesday: The Valley and Westside have their public meetings on the Bike Plan during the commuter unfriendly time of 5:00 P.M.  To find out where the meetings are, click here.  For those of you on Facebook, there is a ride scheduled to the Wednesday, Westside Meeting.

Wednesday: The City Council Transportation Committee meets down in City Hall to discuss building a parking lot near the Pacific Palisades Village and a couple of taxi issues.  For the full schedule, click here.

Saturday:  Is Halloween and their are bike rides scheduled around Greater Los Angeles to celebrate.  At Midnight Ridazz, I see at least six rides (look at the bar on the right.)  Pretty impressive considering the city continues to insist that only 3.6% of us commute by bicycle or walking.  Of course, if you want to do a political ride, Friday night will see Critical Mass throughout the city.

If I’m missing an event, L.A. is too big for me not to, email me at damien@streetsblog.org
