The Week in Livable Streets Events

It seems like things slow down in August every year.  This year doesn’t appear to be any different.

Tuesday – Metro will host a community update meeting for the Restoration of Historic Streetcar Service in Downtown Los Angeles Project to discuss the results of the initial screening of alternatives.  Get more details, here.

Tuesday – For the second year in a row, the LAPD will lead a Downtown Bike Tour starting at Pershing Square at 8:00 P.M.  Get more details, at Midnight Ridazz.

Thursday – The Metro Board of Directors will meet for their July/August meeting with Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa at the helm.  The agenda hasn’t been posted yet, but we do know there will be votes on the Community Benefits/Protection resolution for the Crenshaw Line and a vote on whether or not pursue a Bike Share program at Metro Stations. When the agenda is posted, you can find it here.

Thursday – The Re-Think L.A. Exhibit opens at the A + D Museum.  The exhibit includes 20 photographs of present day Los Angeles juxtaposed with 20 collages of a future LA.  Sites around the city were selected based on criteria of showcasing: icons, infrastructure, boulevards, freeways, urban and suburban fabric; these include: the LA River, 105 / 110 Freeway Interchange, Dodger Stadium, and Wilshire Boulevard.  Get the details, here.

Friday – Santa Monica Critical Mass rides again.  All interested Westsiders should meet at the Cannon at 6:30.  Get more details, here.
