L.A. Streetcar History Tour
On Saturday morning, 9/24/11, the Los Angeles Railroad Heritage Foundation (www.larhf.org — includes archival photos galore) is offering up an Urban Archeology tour of L.A. rail history…
The trip starts downtown at MTA building and follows near or along old Pacific Electric Red Car paths… Tour guides include a raconteur, Ralph Cantos, who rode the Red Car on its final, sad night decades ago…. During the ride, “Then” photos will be displayed on the tour bus’ video monitor… The $25 ticket also includes a coy of the book, “Destinations: How trolleys and postcards helped create the Southern California dream, 1898-1950.”
