The Week in Livable Streets Events

The calendar might look a little thin this week, but everything on the agenda is a huge event.  Too bad I’m out of town.

Monday-Wednesday – Metro is hosting three community meetings to solicit feedback for a plan to bring rapid transit to Van Nuys Boulevard.  What would your ideal transit way look like?  Light rail?  Heavy rail? Streetcars?  BRT?  Show up to one of the meetings and let Metro know.  Get the details, here.

Wednesday – The Urban Land Institute is hosting their fall meeting in Downtown Los Angeles with an interesting topic: “Mobility, Livability, and Economic Growth: Sustainability Lessons from the Pacific Rim.”  There’s nearly 6.000 movers and shakers from around the country booked in Downtown Los Angeles.  Join the fun, here.

Wednesday – The City Council Transportation Committee has a full agenda, including a grant application to extend the river trail and a lot more.  More on the agenda, tomorrow.  In the meantime, read it here.

Wednesday – Is the Second Annual Fundraising Gala for the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition City of Lights Annual Award Dinner and concert.  If I weren’t out of town, I would be there.   The ticket cost was cut to $45 and you can get all the details at their official website.

Thursday – Live from the Metro Board Room, it’s the Metro Board of Directors.  The full agenda isn’t online yet.  When it is, we’ll bring a preview and it will be available at the Metro Website.

Did I miss something?  Is there a big event coming up in your ‘hood soon that’s not on the calendar?  Email damien at streetsblog dot org.
