The Week in Livable Streets Events

Tuesday – A group of bicycle and pedestrian safety advocates including Roadblock and L.A. Walks’ Deborah Murphy are basically launching a “Citizen’s Campaign for Safer Streets” with a short presentation planned at the LAPD Police Commission.  Get the details at KCET’s “One Ride at a Time.”

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday – The Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council is gathering data to inform a parklets plan.  ON TUESDAY THEY ARE HOLDING ONE LAST TRAINING SESSION FOR VOLUNTEERS.  If you can’t make the training session but want to support the DLANC,  be nice to anyone with a clip board taking notes in DTLA this week.  Get more details on their efforts, here.

Wednesday – A group of urban planners and TOD Experts meet in the early morning to talk about Measure R and how LA is changing.  Join the fun, or follow online.  Get the details on how you can get involved by clicking here.

Wednesday – At 6:15 at Union Station, Metro hosts it’s second open house on the Green Line Extension to LAX.  Can’t make the meeting?  It will also be “U Streamed” live.  Get all the details at our calendar section.

Thursday – Joe Linton speaks at Cal-State Northridge on “The Bicycle and the Future of Los Angeles” at 6:30 P.M.  The event is free and open to the public.  You can get the details at the CicLAvia blog.

Friday – The American Institute of Architects hosts the 4th of five forums with candidates for Mayor in 2013.  The first three chats have proven informative about how the candidates see the present and future of the built environment in L.A.  This week’s guest, Wendy Greuel has a high bar to clear.  As former chair of the City Council Transportation Committee, she is expected to already be a master of urban planning and design issues.  Get all the details, here.
