And the winner is…

Wesley Reutimann of the San Gabriel Valley Bike Coalition is the winner of the Bike Nation beach cruiser. Wesley will be donating his bike to the non-profit where he works as part of their mini-bike share for employees.

Before we conclude our coverage of last week’s fundraiser for Shay, I wanted to draw attention to a thank you note from Liz Elliott and Shay Sanchez in last week’s comment section. While we appreciate the kind thoughts, the real heroes of last week were all the volunteers and people who showed up and donated. All we did was bring a laptop…even the projector was donated.

Shay and I are so incredibly overwhelmed by the love and generous donations. She told me this morning she just has to make it because so many people are rooting for her. It’s been really hard to say the least but this is just amazing, inspiring and truly makes a difference. It means we can provide care not covered by insurance, and helps us keep up the fight. Not only is she fighting on her own, we have to fight for good care as well. So thanks to everyone for giving us that extra drive and hope to keep going. You all really are giving her a fighting chance, financially and emotionally. Lately she has been looking at adaptive sports and though she is no where near being able to take part yet, it is great to see her dream again. So maybe one day soon we can get back out there on an adaptive bike and see all of you again. We really really can’t thank you all enough. And especially LA Streets Blog for turning your fundraiser into our fundraiser, especially when it;s so tough for non profits to keep going financially, so that just really means so much to us. Again thanks to each and every one of you for donating your time, your energy, your love and your moola! – Liz and Shay
