It is billed as an event to “convene California stakeholders in policy and economic development to consider the key infrastructure projects changing the landscape of mass movement.”

The forum will examine California’s “innovation in highways, railroads, airports and urban metro systems” and explore “the economic impact of investment and the potential value of developing these vital infrastructures.”

Sacramento Event to Explore Impact of Investments in Mobility and Infrastructure, February 25 at 5PM

Washington, D.C. (February 18, 2015)—Next week in Sacramento, The Atlantic will convene California stakeholders in policy and economic development to consider the key infrastructure projects changing the landscape of mass movement statewide. The event, “Bold Bets: California on the Move?,” to be held Wednesday, February 25 at 5PM at the Hyatt Regency, will look to the potential impact and challenges of the state’s much-debated high-speed rail program, among its investments in metro systems, highways, and airports.

Joining the conversation are Riverside Mayor Rusty Bailey; Ellen Smith, manager of strategic planning for the Bay Area Rapid Transit; Peter Haas, education director for the Mineta Transportation Institute; Mike McCoy, executive director of the California Strategic Growth Council; R. Sean Randolph, president and CEO of the Bay Area Council Economic Institute; and Dan Richard, board chair of the California High-Speed Rail Authority.Interviews will be moderated by Atlantic national correspondent James Fallows, who has extensively covered California’s high-speed rail ambitions,  Steve Clemons, Washington editor at large of The Atlantic and Melanie Curry, California reporter at Streetsblog. Siemens is the underwriter of the event and series.
