The week starts slow but heats up from Wednesday until the end of the week.  It looks a lot better than next week which is something of an events graveyard.  If anyone has anything to add, they should email me at damien@streetsblog.org.

Wednesday – Metro’s Planning and Programming Committee meets in the Metro Board Room at 1:00 P.M.  On the agenda is a debate on the Crenshaw Corridor and the Route 2 Terminus Project.

Wednesday – One hour later, the City Council Transportation Committee will vote on how the city will spend it’s portion of Measure R Local Return funds.  After nearly a year and a half of advocacy from LA Walks, the Los Angeles County Bike Coalition, and a broad coalition of other groups, the most recent draft has 10% of those funds allocate for bicycle and pedestrian projects.  The LACBC is organizing people to attend the meeting to speak in favor or protecting this allocation.  You can join them on the 10th floor of City Hall. 

Wednesday – The Expo Construction Authority offers an update on the construction of Phase I at 6:30 P.M. at the Culver City Senior Center, 4095 Overland Ave.

Thursday – Jeff Mapes, the Author of Pedaling Revolution, hosts a series of free events in Long Beach.  Mapes hosted two events in Los Angeles back in May and was well received at the Eco-Village and Flying Pigeon.  For Mapes’ Long Beach Schedule, visit our calendar section.

Thursday – Our friend Joe Linton hosts a C.I.C.L.E. workshop on creating great bike spaces.  The event begins at 7:00 P.M. at the Eco-Village, 117 Bimini Place.  For more information, visit our calendar section or C.I.C.L.E.’s website.

Friday – This is car-free Friday!  Don’t drive to work!

Saturday – C.I.C.L.E. hosts it’s monthly ride.  This month’s Tweed, Moxie & Mustache ride focuses on Los Angeles’ art-deco history.  The ride meets at Union Station at 7:oo P.M. in front of the south courtyard.  For more information, check out our calendar section or C.I.C.L.E.’s website.
